FIRST SEMESTER AT IIT BOMBAY
Hi there, welcome!
I have enjoyed my first semester at IIT Bombay, Now its time to share my experience with all of you.
"Study is key to success and music, sports, dramas, entertainment are medicine to it"
IIT Bombay, the Institute which fulfills this quote and provides the best education with full of joy, entertainment, and peaceful environment. the campus expands over 550 acres and situated on the bank of Powai lake & on the other side bound by the Sameer hill where you can enjoy a small trekking. Due to the proximity of Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the campus is cover with greenery with a beautiful park, nursery & different kinds of trees and plants and mostly untouched by the pollution. Or how can I miss out the beauty of the weather, the best weather is in the months of June-July when you see the students with their umbrellas. if you are planning to visit the campus in the June-July, don't forget to carry your umbrella because its full of raining 24/7.
Buildings/Hostels
IITB has a beautiful infrastructure with the main building, convocation hall, Central library, 15 departments & 18 hostels. Every hostel is assigned a name and no. like our hostel assigned name Woodland and no. for it is 8. Also, the campus houses the one post office, bank, 24/7 hospital and two schools, one of which is Kendriya Vidyalaya and other is called IIT campus school. If you are at the boy's hostel, then girls are allowed in the hostel but, Be remember girls entry in the rooms is restricted after 10 pm or vice-versa.
Sports/Cultural
IIT Bombay has Students Activity Centre (SAC) for various cultural and sports activities. the institute has two swimming pools, a big open playground, cricket, hockey & football grounds, and badminton, basketball & volleyball courts. it also has Gym facility, fulfilled with all latest electronic equipment and Indoor game facility where you can play any game while raining. IIT Bombay is also known for its cultural fest called 'Mood Indigo', Asia's largest College Cultural Fest. where you can meet, enjoy with international singer, Dancer and many more. it is held at the end of the December, This year the institute is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee with long celebrations so this fest ( 26 to 29 Dec.) is going to be super special and enthusiastic. Prime Minister was the chief guest for the convocation, part of this celebration. the institute also organizes its Tech fest where you can see many advanced technical equipments used in different areas and human-made robots. Last year, the most social humanoid robot called 'Sophia' came in the tech fest. IIT Bombay is also famous for its romantic program like salsa night where you can enjoy, dance with your partner.
As you know Mumbai is known as film city so you also can see the shooting at the campus. Presently 'Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor ' are shooting for the chichhore movie in the campus, where you can look them directly.

Profs/Classes
The Profs are very punctual at the institute, it is hard to find a Prof 1 min late in the class. But if a Prof is late he/she apologizes for the same. And Profs are so cool and helpful even a Prof once shake a hand with me. Also, in the beginning, some students were facing problems to enroll with IIT system including me, then we told our problem to a Prof and he spends 2 hours for us just standing outside the classroom. Classes are well furnished and nice looking with different kinds of designs. Students at IIT Bombay generally sleep late night so sometime it is difficult to attend morning classes. I remember, once I also missed a morning class for sleeping which I never thought so.
Placement/Internship
This is the main thing, why students prefer the IIT Bombay most. The institute has the best relationship with foreign Universities/Labs through its placement/internship team. The team contact with international/national Universities/ Companies /Labs and convert them to take the students from the Institute for summer/winter internship and for placement. To apply for an internship you need to make a resume and sometime SOP too, I think that is the most difficult part. Also, some Universities conducts the skype/telephonic interviews.
Trips/Trekking
If you are at IIT Bombay/ Mumbai how can you forget to go to marine drive & sea link. I, myself went there two times and enjoyed a lot. Once we all classmates spend a full night there at the bank of the sea. Also at the end of the semester, we went for trekking at the highest peak of Maharashtra called " Kalsubai hill ".you need to trek 6 km to reach at the peak (1646 m). Also, I enjoyed boating and bathing in the lack while tripping.
Thanks to all reader
